Honorable Ministers, distinguished delegates, dear colleagues, friends, ladies and gentlemen,
From the deep inside of my heart, I thank all of you for electing me as the new TSB Director of the ITU, giving your trust and confidence to me in directing one of the most important functions in the ITU, ITU-T, for the next four years. I sincerely thank all of you for your warm support.
My deep gratitude to the Government of Korea for presenting my candidature. My sincere thanks to Honorable Minister Dr. Choi YangHee, Vice Minister Mr. Youn JongRok, Korean delegation and all Korean teams and friends who have supported me strongly for the election campaign. My sincere thanks also go to all delegates of ITU Member States, Sector Members and others. And very importantly at this moment, I would like to thank my dear wife KIM YeonSoo including my children LEE JeongSun and EunSun. Since we met in 1979, she devotes and shares her life to support me with continuous praying to GOD.
Taking this special opportunity, I would also like to express my gratitude to my colleagues at the ITU-T study groups, especially SG13 including TSB staff for their efforts for the last 27 years of attendance. In addition, I would also like to thank to my friendly candidatures showing high standard competition during the campaign. We will continue our friendship and work together.

The ITU will celebrate its 150th anniversary next year and I wish to tell you, ITU-T will have its 60th anniversary in 2016. During the last 60 years, ITU-T, previously CCITT, has remarkably contributed to building today's information society. In Asia, 60 years means accomplishing one big cycle in one's life and starting another one. I believe ITU-T is at one of its most important moments for a continuous development of Telecom/ICTs with the next cycle ahead of ITU-T. As the newly elected Director, I should enhance the values of ITU-T activities and products as well as efficiency and effectiveness collaborating within and outside of ITU-T. In addition, I will do my best to make the ITU deliver excellent services collaborating with other elected officials as one team.
